FAQ
Clear opening or cutout — which do I measure?
Both, and they are different. The cutout is the hole in the deck; the clear opening is the usable aperture once the hatch is installed, which is always smaller. If you are replacing an existing hatch, measure the cutout. If you are specifying for access or escape, the clear opening is the number that governs. Our size table lists both for every model.
What coaming height do I need?
Flush suits protected working decks where a raised lip would be a trip hazard or obstruct gear. Raised coamings lift the opening clear of standing water and wash-down, and are normal on exposed decks and foredecks. Where a rule set specifies a minimum coaming height for your vessel and deck position, that governs — send us the requirement and we will match it.
Can you match a discontinued hatch?
Yes. Send photographs and cutout dimensions, or ship us the old hatch. We measure it, produce a drawing and fabricate a replacement that drops into the existing cutout without deck modification. This is routine work for us.
Do you make sizes outside the table?
Yes. The table covers standard sizes; anything else is fabricated to your cutout. Custom sizes carry a longer lead time than stocked models, which we confirm at quote.
What are your lead times?
Fabricated doors typically ship in 9 to 12 weeks from drawing approval. Supplied A-class assemblies run to the partner manufacturer’s schedule, which we confirm at quote rather than after the order.
